A special delivery arrived!
The hard copies of the book I had the honour of translating are finally here, and they feel even more beautiful in person. This project is deeply close to my heart. The book is rooted in a powerful philosophy we South Africans live by: UBUNTU.
It’s the profound understanding that our humanity is intertwined. “I am because we are”.
My hope is that this book becomes a tool, a way to heal, to bridge gaps between generations, and to remind us of our shared connection. In a world that often feels divided, the message of Ubuntu is a balm we all need.
I warmly invite you to buy a copy:

For yourself, as a source of strength.
For your friend, as a token of love.
And especially for a young person in your life, to equip them with wisdom and compassion for their journey ahead.
Let’s plant these seeds of Ubuntu together.

Gido has arrived!
Lu Dlamini is a storyteller in song, and her voice does that work perfectly.
She certainly has range and power, and when she wants to make us sit up, she’ll use it.
But most of the time she’s huskily soft and understated.
Well-judged timing and precise diction let the narratives breathe into our ears.

Lu Dlamini’s album, Gido, defies genre boxes. It’s “traditional” music in some of its instrumentation,
and in the fact that talking to listeners about social issues is what music has done since the dawn of time.
But these are moving, appealing songs for today.
A musician is sharing important stories with us.
You should come sit down with her and listen.
